Welcome to Argentonnay Alpaca Farm
Argentonnay Alpacas are a professional alpaca breeder in North Deux Sevre. Previously Argenton Alpacas established in 2009, the farms vision has always been to elevate quality and consistency these remain core values today in addition to confirmation, happiness and the health of our animals!
Our main focus is the breeding and sale of quality alpacas and with a herd of 40+ we are confident we have animals to suit all requirements whether you are looking to start your own herd, add to your existing herd, field guards, pets or wool production.
In addition to our breeding services our farm is in a wonderful location 2km from Argenton les Vallees, 1km from Chateau fort de l'Ebaupinay, 1.5km from PKS Loisirs Karting, 6km from Parc de la Vallee, 20km Bioparc de Doue la Fontaine and 80km from Futuroscope!
We offer a lovely picnic area and playground with views of the alpaca fields, small café and gift shop onsite.

Argentonnay Alpacas est un éleveur professionnel d'alpagas dans le Nord Deux Sèvres. Auparavant, Argenton Alpacas a été créé en 2009. La vision de la ferme a toujours été d'élever la qualité et la cohérence, qui restent des valeurs fondamentales aujourd'hui, en plus de la confirmation, du bonheur et de la santé de nos animaux !
Notre objectif principal est l'élevage et la vente d'alpagas de qualité et avec un troupeau de plus de 50 animaux, nous sommes sûrs que nous avons des animaux pour répondre à toutes les exigences, que vous cherchiez à démarrer votre propre troupeau, des animaux de compagnie, des gardes ou la production de laine.
En plus de nos services d'élevage, notre ferme est située à 2km d'Argenton les Vallees, 1km du Château fort de l'Ebaupinay, 1,5km de PKS Loisirs Karting, 6km du Parc de la Vallée, 20km du Bioparc de Doue la Fontaine et 80km du Futuroscope ! Nous proposons une belle aire de pique-nique et une aire de jeux avec vue sur les champs d'alpagas, un petit café et une boutique de souvenirs sur place.

Why Alpacas?
Brief History of Alpacas
Originally from the mountains of South America, they have been bred for their wool producing abilities. When the Incas domesticated Alpacas nearly 6000 years ago the fibre was exclusively used to make clothes and blankets for Royalty and so was known as “fibre of the Gods”.
Alpacas are members of the Camelid family, their cousins include Camels, Llamas and Vicuna. Alpacas are the smallest of the camelids.
There are 2 type of Alpacas, the Huacaya (our herd) which have wavy crimped fleece and Suri which have locked ringlets.
Eco friendly!
Alpacas are an Eco-livestock, they are more efficient grazers than sheep or cows because of their foot anatomy, alpacas do not disrupt the soil or cause erosion. They will not decimate vegetation like goats, or pull up plants by the roots like cows and so have a less significant some would say positive impact on the landscape.
Fibre of the Gods!
Alpaca fibre has been described as stronger than mohair, finer than cashmere, smoother than silk, softer than cotton and warmer than goose down. We like to call it Super Fibre!! It is hypo-allergenic and does not contain lanolin unlike sheep, allowing it to be processed sustainably without the need for high temperatures and chemicals. Alpacas have 22 official natural shades from whites, greys, fawn, brown and blacks making the finished yarn perfect for organic knitters! Alpaca fibre is flame resistant, water resistant and also wicks away moisture making it ideal for the use in bedding, pillows and duvets. Perfect for felting and many craft products.
Field Candy?
Alpacas not only look cute and fluffy in the field, as a herd and prey animals they make excellent field guards. They are very effective at guarding from predators, foxes in particular from their field friends sheep and chickens!
